Budgeting for The Race to The Top Instruction

Malverne School District Community Posted on March 8, 2015 by Jan KasalMarch 9, 2015

Increases vs. Cuts At the Malverne UFSD budget meeting, the administration presented to the BOE members and two residents in attendance the “instructional” part of the budget. There are approximately 200 line-items, A2010 through A2855, in this part, but only few will fit into this post. The selected line-items deal with test prep, test administration, equipment and supplies cuts, and data collection. There are many more interesting lines in the budget. For example the … Continue reading →

These were the topics of the Malverne school district BOE at their meeting in public on February 10th. Mrs. Shannon Kelley, HS teacher, and a group of staff were recognized for their grant request efforts to fund various programs. Kudos to them. Malverne School District Community Posted on April 10, 2014 by Jan KasalApril 10, 2014

The series of three sessions dedicated to Malverne SD budget came to the end on March 18. The first session was dedicated to “instructional” expenses (codes 2010-2855), followed by a session on “operational” expenses (codes 1620-1981 and 5000s), and the last session paid attention to “administrative” expenses (codes 1010-1480 and 9000s). In addition to the public sessions, Mr. Caputo, district business administrator, kindly met with me for two extra sessions. It allowed me to … Continue reading →

budget expense review

The budget review meetings are about to enter the second half. The past two meetings were attended by 6 and 4 residents, respectively. Before the last meeting, I suggested to make the environment more work conducive, like rearrange chairs so we could use tables to rest our papers and make notes easier. Nay. Due to the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) introduced in 2010 the state aid for our district was reduced by approximately $1 … Continue reading →
