Both, but with the emphasis on the social aspect. If you go on Twitter and type #gomules in the Search field, you’ll see an unusual trending of the hashtag between 7 and 8 pm on Jan. 21. The Malverne UFSD organized a “session” on how to use social media for telling the story of district schools.
It was not the first gathering on the topic. This project, still in development was presented at the PTA meeting in November, as I documented here.
Last night, the “session” was refined, also encompassed the use of Facebook and district’s own app for mobile platforms that is free to download. The atmosphere felt as a workshop. The techies were helping; attendees were helping each other. The “social” initiative is slowly getting traction. I envision, in short time, teachers will be collaborating with other schools on projects of type: “What’s the life in Tamanrasset now?”
The low attendance confirmed again my opinion that instead of having these “sessions” dispersed throughout the year, they all should take place on one Sat. (as described here), offer activities for kids, and SEPTA could even sell pancakes for breakfast.
